The waveforms for each oscillator include saw, pulse, triangle, and a mix of saw and pulse if both of those types are selected. The patch design in Obsession is very good and there are many keepers I discovered, but there is no Favorite function built-in. The soundbanks are really just folders on your computer, so you can create your own folders to keep your patches organized.
You can skim through them one at time using the arrows on either side of the patch name, or click on the name itself to view a dropdown menu with all the categories that are available. Also included are four Init patches to help you in your patch design. Several categories are here, such as Bass, Brass, Chords, Vintage, Drums, Leads, Pads, etc. In the upper-right there is a browser to get to the many included patches that are available. I normally audition some of the patches before digging in any deeper with the other settings of various synthesizer or sampler plugins. It is compatible with mainstream 64-bit DAWs. To install Obsession you’ll need a PC with Windows 7 or later OS and for the Mac you’ll need OS X 10.11 or later. The modeling in the emulation is very detailed for the VCO, VCF and VCA and the separate voice parameters can be tweaked by the user. In this new emulation there have been some modern features added but the core structure is the same. Four, six and eight-voice models were available. It was also possible to split the keyboard with different voices and layering voices was possible as well. It is a polyphonic analog synthesizer with two VCOs per voice, a switchable 12dB/octave and 24dB/octave resonant low-pass filter, two ADSR envelopes and two LFOs. Obsession is an emulation of the popular Oberheim OB-Xa that was produced in the early 1980s.
